Effective Cholesterol Medications
There are many ways that people can combat problems with cholesterol levels and medications collectively represent a very small fraction of those ways. While there are many different medications available on the market today, no responsible doctor would ever suggest taking medications as a first step. Lifestyle changes in diet and exercise are the best way to fight cholesterol problems and only in cases where those changes have already been made (or the person is in a physical state where making those changes is impossible) should medications be considered. With that disclaimer out of the way, here are some medications you might consider.
The most common group of medications that people use to control their cholesterol levels are statin medications. Statins were created and continue to be marketed essentially for the express purpose of controlling cholesterol problems and for that reason medications that people take for control of cholesterol levels usually begin with this group of medications. To make it easier, statins have already been patented and marketed under various brand names, many of which are already known to most of the people looking into this particular issue. Statins such as Pravachol, Mevacor and Zocor are ready to be purchased in most of the drug stores, but of course the single biggest statin medication that people know about these days is Lipitor. All of these medications will help you control your cholesterol levels, although every study done on the issue suggests that they are far more effective if combined with diet and exercise.
Another medication that you might want to consider is niacin. This vitamin is also known in standardized terms as Vitamin B3 and it is a very important vitamin within the grand scheme of things in the body. There are many sources of niacin in the everyday diet as well, which makes it easier to consume. Lean chicken and beef both contain high amounts of niacin, as do very many species of fish. You can actually create a healthier diet and increase your intake of niacin at the same time. Such a tactic would work at controlling cholesterol levels from two sides of the issue and because of that would likely be far more effective at actually getting results for you. There are many fruits and vegetables as well that contain niacin such as leaf vegetables (i.e. lettuce) and brightly coloured vegetables (i.e. carrots and tomatoes).
Between the statins and increasing your daily intake of niacin, there is not much else that cholesterol medications can do for you. This is why it is strongly recommended that diet and exercise changes accompany medications because at the end of the day a pill can only take you so far in your quest to control your cholesterol levels. Many websites erroneously state that pills can be a complete stand-in for lifestyle changes, but this is so far from the truth that no reputable health professional would ever say it. Combine all of the different cholesterol treatments instead of just relying on medication and you will be far better off for it.

Ezetimibe is effective medication for cholesterol. It was very effective. Even the combination of Ezetimibe and Simvastatin is also effective. I got it online at International Drug Mart.
Thanks Sandra. I will check that out.
