Some Relatively Unknown High Cholesterol Foods

The mindset of today's average person is one of trying to avoid high cholesterol foods at all costs. While this is certainly an admirable goal, often it is a goal that is difficult for the person to achieve. This failure is not always due to a lack of willpower, nor is it necessarily a lack of actual intention. Failure is quite often due to a lack of information that leaves a person to consume those foods without knowing they could be harmful to their cholesterol levels. To help you avoid that, below is a list of some foods that can be harmful on this front. Some of these foods you will likely already know, but others might come as a surprise.

Foods that are Breaded

Everyone knows that frying a food will increase the amount of fat in that particular food. They also know in most cases, doing this will create foods that are high in cholesterol levels. While this is very true, did you know that the same is to be said for foods that are breaded? It might surprise you to know this, but if you truly want to avoid the worst foods with high cholesterol levels, you need to try to eliminate breaded foods from your diet immediately. While most breaded foods are fried in one way or another, the end result is not always obvious to the eye. If you resolve to avoid breaded foods, you will cover many of the dangerous foods from that category.

Processed Muffins

Everyone knows that donuts are not the best food to be eating if they would like to reduce their cholesterol intake. At the same time, most people are also aware that cookies can pose the same problem. However, there are many people that switch from donuts or cookies to muffins thinking that this will allow them to enjoy a morning treat while avoiding the problems with cholesterol.

While this is definitely a better way of trying to follow a healthy lifestyle, you need to be very careful about which muffins you consume. Homemade muffins that have nothing but healthy ingredients in them might be worthwhile to eat, but the unfortunate truth of the matter is that processed muffins and muffins made through commercial means usually contain just as many bad ingredients as the cookies and donuts that you wanted to avoid. For bakeries and popular coffee chains to be able to sell muffins cheaply and competitively against donuts and cookies, they must go with commercially produced products. The muffins that you purchase from coffee shops and bakeries can often be just as unhealthy as anything else available at these establishments.

Other High Cholesterol Foods

Deli meats are often high cholesterol products as well and should be avoided whenever possible. Other examples of relatively unknown high cholesterol foods include ice cream, pastry, any kind of meat fat and even coconut oil. Arm yourself with complete information regarding foods that are high in cholesterol before you make your finalized cholesterol-free diet.
